FAQS: READY MIX CONCRETE

At 3 Counties Concrete, we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about ordering ready mix concrete. Below are some of the most commonly-asked queries, and if you still need more information please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Do I need to know the exact quantity when ordering?

No, we know how difficult it can be to accurately estimate how much concrete you need. Just order the approximate amount and we only charge for the mixture you actually use.

How far in advance do I need to order?

We ideally need at least two days to prepare an order, however we can often fit in same-day appointments. Please call as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate you.

How big are your lorries?

The dimensions of our trucks are 3.75m tall, 3m wide and 10.5m long.

How far do your lorries reach?

Our lorries reach around 5m.

How many wheelbarrows of concrete are needed to a cubic metre of concrete?

A cubic metre of concrete weighs 2.4 tonnes, which is equivalent to around 25 wheelbarrow loads.

What is the ratio for mixing concrete?

Concrete requires approximately 1 part cement to 3 parts sand and 3 parts aggregate, that is combined with water until it’s a suitable thickness. We use only the finest quality materials in our ready mix concrete, and can supply various grades to suit your project.

How thick does a concrete slab need to be?

The standard thickness for a concrete slab in residential construction is 4 inches. This may need to be increased to five or six inches if the slab will need to support heavier loads, such as very heavy vehicles or large structures.

What are your operating hours?

We work 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday, and 7:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday. If you require assistance or service outside of these hours, please call us to discuss availability.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept cash or debit/credit cards only. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cheques.
